Livestock Events

The Monday Night Hog Jackpot Show is open to all junior exhibitors ages 4–18. Registration will be completed through the Showman app.

Showmanship Divisions

Showmanship classes will be determined by the exhibitor’s age on the day of the show:

• Peewee: Ages 4–8
• Junior: Ages 9–12
• Intermediate: Ages 13–15
• Senior: Ages 16–18

Market Hog Divisions

Market hogs will be divided by weight into three divisions:

• Lightweight
• Middleweight
• Heavyweight

A champion and reserve champion will be selected from each weight division. The champion and reserve champion from the Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight divisions will return to the ring for the Grand Champion Drive, where the overall Grand Champion will be selected.

Arrival, Check-In and Health Requirements

Hogs may begin arriving at 3:30 p.m. All hogs and exhibitors must be checked in no later than 5:30 p.m.

Health papers are required for all hogs arriving from outside Virginia.

Meet Our Judge: Alexandra Duckworth

Alexandra Duckworth grew up in Greeneville, Tennessee, where she and her family own and operate Grassy Valley Farm, raising registered Angus and SimAngus cattle.

Alexandra was an active member of the National Junior Angus Association, exhibiting nationally competitive cattle and earning numerous champion and division titles. She attended the University of Tennessee, where she was a member of the livestock judging team and earned multiple Top-10 finishes throughout her collegiate judging career.

She was also selected to participate in the Top Judge Program, where she was mentored by leaders from across the livestock industry. Alexandra graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and a minor in Statistics. She is now pursuing her master’s degree in Animal Science, specializing in beef cattle genomics.

We are excited to welcome Alexandra to the Washington County Fair and look forward to having her evaluate our junior exhibitors and their hogs!

The Appalachian Area Lamb & Goat Show is open exclusively to junior exhibitors ages 4–18.

• Animal arrival may begin: 3:30 p.m.

All exhibitors and animals must be checked in by 5:30 p.m. to participate.

Meet Our Judge: Max Richardson

We are pleased to welcome Max Richardson of Maynardville, Tennessee, as this year’s judge.

Max is currently a senior in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and plans to graduate with his bachelor’s degree this year.

Max and his family own and operate R5 Cattle Company, a 35-head Red Angus operation focused on producing quality show cattle for exhibitors throughout the Southeast. In addition to his cattle experience, Max has experience evaluating and sorting several other livestock species.

Last spring, Max competed in numerous livestock judging contests and had much success in the sheep and goat divisions. He is excited to work with the Washington County Fair and the talented young exhibitors participating in this year’s show!

Calling all rabbit owners — young and old! The Appalachian Area Rabbit Show is coming to the Washington County Fair on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, starting at 6:00 p.m.

We want to make this our biggest rabbit show ever, and we need you! Whether you’re a first-time exhibitor, an experienced youth showman, or an adult rabbit owner, we invite you to bring your best bunnies and join us for a fun evening at the Fair.

The Appalachian Area Rabbit Show is proudly sponsored by Wayside Veterinary Clinic, and the show will be handled by Dr. Emily Hoss.

Showmanship Divisions

Showmanship opportunities are available for exhibitors of all ages and experience levels:

• Novice: First-time exhibitors, ages 9 & under
• Pee-Wee: Ages 5–8
• Junior: Ages 9–11
• Intermediate: Ages 12–14
• Senior: Ages 15–18
• Adult: Ages 19 & up

Exhibitors may also choose not to participate in showmanship and still enter their rabbits in the appropriate breed classes.

Rabbit Classes

Rabbit classes will be divided between Fancy (Small Breeds) and Large Breeds, with separate classes according to the rabbit’s sex and age.

Fancy (Small Breeds)

• Bucks — Under 6 Months
• Does — Under 6 Months
• Bucks — Over 6 Months
• Does — Over 6 Months

Large Breeds

• Bucks — Under 6 Months
• Does — Under 6 Months

Registration

Pre-registration is strongly advised to help us plan for the event and make sure we have enough space to accommodate all rabbits and exhibitors.

The registration form allows exhibitors to enter up to six rabbits and will request exhibitor contact information, showmanship division, and information about each rabbit being entered.

Get ready for one of the Washington County Fair's most-loved traditions—the Greased Pig Scramble! Participants ages 2 through adulthood will have the chance to enter the ring and try to catch the pig.

Age Divisions

To ensure fair competition, boys and girls compete in separate divisions from ages 2 through 15:

• 2-Year-Old Boys & 2-Year-Old Girls
• 3-Year-Old Boys & 3-Year-Old Girls
• 4-Year-Old Boys & 4-Year-Old Girls
• 5-Year-Old Boys & 5-Year-Old Girls
• 6-Year-Old Boys & 6-Year-Old Girls
• 7-Year-Old Boys & 7-Year-Old Girls
• 8-Year-Old Boys & 8-Year-Old Girls
• 9-Year-Old Boys & 9-Year-Old Girls
• 10-Year-Old Boys & 10-Year-Old Girls
• 11-Year-Old Boys & 11-Year-Old Girls
• 12-Year-Old Boys & 12-Year-Old Girls

Participants will compete within their assigned division, and a trophy will be awarded to the winner of each division.

How Each Age Group Competes

• Ages 2–5: Participants will enter the ring and grab the ribbon off the pig's back.
• Ages 6 and up: Participants will enter the ring and attempt to bear hug the pig to win.

Waiver Requirement

A completed and signed waiver is required for every participant before entering the ring. For participants under 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete and sign the waiver.

Waivers will be available the week of the event:

• Downloadable from the Washington County Fair website
• Available on the Washington County Fair Facebook page
• Available at the Fair for on-site completion

Important: To help speed up check-in, we strongly encourage all participants to print and complete their waiver before arriving at the fairgrounds. Bringing a completed waiver will help keep lines moving and get participants into the ring faster.
